Contemporary Design

This derelict toffee factory in Newcastle upon Tyne has been reincarnated as managed work space for the creative industries in an area of regeneration and has won two RIBA awards in 2012, namely the Regional Sustainability Award and the Building of the Year Award.

Hardscape, who carried out the hard landscaping at the site, is a company that is very aware of its responsibility to source ecologically sustainable materials. With this in mind, they approached Craftstone to manufacture paving blocks from their range of recycled glass and resin (Crystal) products.

The finished scheme is a contemporary design which includes coloured Crystal blocks randomly incorporated into a grey paved area.
