Church at Kilcoo
Annvale Construction was appointed as contractors to carry out major refurbishment work at Kilcoo Church between Castlewellan and Rathfriland in Co. Down.
The gothic window surrounds were originally meant to have all the existing stone cut back and replaced with new plaster work but the variation in sizes of what was required led the contractor to approach Craftstone to see if the surround units could be manufactured. Some coping and banding was also required. Each window consisted of a sill, stepped jambs and an arched lintel but sizes differed from window to window. This meant that Craftstone had to work closely with the contractor to ensure all units were manufactured to the correct dimensions.
The Craftstone granite window surrounds are an outstanding feature of the church and compliment the natural basalt stone of the building.
